Reading Yeats 'An Acre of Grass'

W.B.Yeats "An Acre Of Grass" PICTURE and book remain, An acre of green grass For air and exercise, Now strength of body goes; Midnight, an old house Where nothing stirs but a mouse. My temptation is quiet. Here at life's end Neither loose imagination, Nor the mill of the mind Consuming its rag and bonc, Can make the truth known. Grant me an old man's frenzy, Myself must I remake Till I am Timon and Lear Or that William Blake Who beat upon the wall Till Truth obeyed his call; A mind Michael Angelo knew That can pierce the clouds, Or inspired by frenzy Shake the dead in their shrouds; Forgotten else by mankind, An old man's eagle mind. Reading W.B.Yeats poem "An Acre of Grass" after a decade  gave a new lease of life. The poem should not be read alone but along with  other poems of Yeats like ' The Lamentation of the Old Pensioner', 'Memory', 'Broken Dreams', 'Sailing to Byzantium',

So what?

We live in penury             Of thought             Of sense             Of perception When we still rejoice at the birth of boys                     glisten at the sight of money                     look for easy doors He said I was wrong I think differently I am (ab) normal For I think not what most think       look for peace not at beauty pageants                    knowledge beyond the classroom                    talk to all with smile And... we say we are changed.          We live in penury          Of faith.          Of trust.           Of belief. When we still  look for grooms in castes                       marry of kids in haste                      spent crore in rituals as the poor sleep naked and empty And yet... we say we are changed It will not make a huge change.  I think differently. So what, if you call me (ab) normal?

Pop with a bang

I didn't take a hiatus for 5yrs. I opened a blog and even before I did any real blogging, I simply forgot its existence! Such things happen. That's why life is precious. I'm back - hopefully with a stronger determination to write something... regularly. Welcome once again. Wish me a better luck with my memory and momentum.
